Kallorix
Kallorix or Moneypenny?
Moneypenny is one of the best-known answering services in the UK, with real people on the phone. Kallorix is an AI receptionist for trades. They solve the same problem in different ways.
The short version
Moneypenny answers your calls with UK-based receptionists, which it calls PAs, and can combine them with its own AI receptionist. Kallorix answers with an AI receptionist only, set up for your trade, at a fixed monthly price.
The choice is mostly about what your calls are like. Complicated, sensitive or high-value conversations favour a person. Calls that follow a pattern and need answering instantly at any hour favour software.
What we say about Moneypenny comes from moneypenny.com/uk as it read on 11 October 2026. Products and prices change, so check their site for the current details. If anything here is out of date, email us and we will correct it.
What Moneypenny offers
According to its website, Moneypenny's telephone answering service answers calls in your company name. Its PAs can transfer calls to your team or send you messages by email or text.
- Appointment booking into your diary
- Qualifying leads
- Taking payments, such as deposits and invoices
- Answering frequently asked questions
- Filtering out cold callers
- Logging notes and outcomes to your CRM
Its site says the standard service runs from 8.30am to 6.00pm, with evening, weekend or 24-hour cover available as an addition. Outside the hours you have chosen, calls go to voicemail with a personalised greeting.
What Kallorix offers
Kallorix answers the calls you miss with an AI receptionist who speaks as your business. She asks the few questions your trade needs and texts you the job straight after the call.
- She answers at once, at any hour, and takes several calls at the same time.
- She has question sets for each trade we support.
- She can text the caller a link to share a location or a photo.
- If you switch it on, she tries your mobile once for an urgent caller, and offers a free time from your calendar for you to confirm.
- She switches to the caller's language and texts you in English.
She does not take payments, work inside a CRM or make judgement calls on your behalf. If a caller asks something she has not been told, she says so and takes a message.
Price and terms
Moneypenny does not publish prices on its UK site. It describes pricing as flexible, based on call volumes and hours of cover, and asks you to request a quote. It offers a free trial on request.
On contracts, its site says that schemes of 150 minutes and below have a minimum term of three months, then one month's notice. Larger schemes need a six or twelve month commitment, with three months' notice.
Kallorix publishes its prices:
- Starter: £39 a month, 250 minutes
- Growth: £99 a month, 500 minutes
- Maximus: £149 a month, unlimited minutes with a fair-use ceiling of 3,000
Nights and weekends cost the same as weekdays. There is no contract and no notice period; you can cancel from your billing page whenever you like. There are 7 days free. If you use up your minutes you are not billed extra: your phone rings as normal and we text you the number of anyone you miss.
Why trades choose Kallorix
These are the differences that matter most to a trade business, set against what Moneypenny publishes about its own service.
- You can see the price. Ours is on the website: £39, £99 or £149 a month. Moneypenny asks you to request a quote.
- No contract and no notice. Moneypenny's site sets minimum terms of three to twelve months with notice on top. You can leave Kallorix the day you decide to.
- Nights and weekends are included. Moneypenny's standard hours are 8.30am to 6.00pm, with evening, weekend or 24-hour cover as an addition. Ours is the same price at any hour, which is when emergency trades earn most.
- Answered on the first ring. No queue and no hold, and several calls can be taken at once after a storm or a cold snap.
- She knows your trade. A shared receptionist takes a general message. Ours asks the questions that let you judge the job.
- Start in ten minutes. Build a demo from your website and ring it, without speaking to a salesperson.
Who Moneypenny suits
- Businesses whose calls are complex, sensitive or need a person's judgement, such as professional services.
- Firms that want payments taken or bookings made inside their own systems.
- Companies with several people to transfer calls between, and a need for calls to be routed to the right one.
- Businesses whose customers expect to speak to a person and would be put off by anything else.
- Larger organisations that want an account relationship and a tailored service.
Who Kallorix suits
- Sole traders and small trade firms whose first calls follow a pattern: what's wrong, where are you, how soon.
- Emergency trades that need the phone answered instantly at three in the morning for the same price as three in the afternoon.
- Owners who want to know the monthly cost before they start, and to be able to leave without notice.
- Anyone who needs a location pin or a photo from the caller.
Using them together
These are not mutually exclusive. Some businesses use a staffed service in office hours, when callers most value a person, and an AI receptionist for the hours it does not cover. Your phone rings first in either case.
How to decide
Think about the last ten calls you missed. If most of them needed a careful conversation, get a quote from a staffed service. If most of them were people who wanted to tell someone their problem and be rung back, an AI receptionist will do that for less, at any hour.
The honest test is to hear both. Build a free Kallorix demo from your own website, or from your trade and town if you have no site. It takes about two minutes and needs no card. Ring it as an awkward customer, read the text it sends you, and compare that with what you hear elsewhere. Choose whichever would win you the most jobs.
